The story behind this blog
“When I reached my 20’s, the pressures of becoming an adult began to dawn on me. I felt conflicted and confused. On the one hand, there’s the expectation for 20-year-olds to have a respectable 9 to 5 job, a reliable income and to be saving money for a house/wedding/car/future family (the list is endless). But on the other hand, this is the only time in my life when I don’t have financial responsibilities, like bills, a mortgage or children. So I want the freedom to be able to enjoy the money I’m working hard for.
For the first time in my life, I had to find a way to balance these two very different goals of saving and living my best life. To do both, I had to start budgeting.
Since starting my journey in budgeting, I’ve found ways to still have fun, be adventurous and stylish but without burning a hole in my pocket. It’s also a lifestyle that’s sustainable, because I’m actually managing do all this whilst saving money and investing it into my future. I’ve gone from spending my entire disposable income and having zero savings, to saving £12,000 in a year without having to ditch my ‘instagrammable’ lifestyle.
So, this blog is really about helping other Millennials to do the same thing. I want to show people they can have and do nice things even when they’re on a budget. This blog will help you to get the best bang for your buck (aka make the most out of your money) and to save money without having to be a minimalist.
