With everything from cleansing, exfoliating, detoxifying and hydrating – I’ve finally found the holy grail of affordable skincare and I’m so happy to share it with you all! Upgrade your skincare routine to be boujee on a budget.

As someone who’s struggled with problematic skin since a teen, I’ve experimented with countless high-end and low-end skincare products to try and find out what items actually do what they say on the tin. Over the years of trial and error, I’ve learnt that you don’t always need to splash the cash on expensive ingredients to get amazing skin results – there are affordable drugstore products that do just as good of a job. Now I’m sharing these with you so you can get flawless movie-star skin without the Hollywood price tag.

I can promise your skin will be looking plump and pimple-less in no time.

Garnier Micellar Water Cleanser

Price: £5 for 400ml ( or £1.99 for 125ml)

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water has fast become one of my staple skincare products. I bought this on a whim when I saw it on offer for just £1 in my local supermarket (I couldn’t say no to giving it a go when it was cheaper than a bottle of mineral water). Since then, I’ve never turned back.

A perfect substitute to makeup wipes, the cleansing water is super gentle on the skin and doesn’t irritate your eyes. The cleansing ingredients work like a magnet to lift dirt off the skin, so it even removes even the most stubborn of makeup without serious rubbing required. Unlike when I use makeup wipes, my skin isn’t left feeling sticky or sore – it’s squeaky clean, hydrated, soft and dewy looking. Above all else, the thing that I love most about this product is the convenience. It’s a one-step process, with no rinsing or water required – perfect if you’re in rush and looking for a super quick and easy way to freshen up before or after make up appliance. A lazy girls dream!

You can buy this in your local drugstores (Superdrug/Boots) and many general supermarkets, as well from online retailers such as Amazon.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Cleansing Lotion

Price: £3.89

I’m obsessed with the whole Glycolic range from Nip+Fab and this is one of my favourites from the collection. As you can see, I’ve used half the bottle!

I opt for Glycolic acid in my skincare regime because I have enlarged pores, oily skin and scars from spots. Glycolic is amazing at purifying and minimising the appearance of pores, exfoliating and effectively removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells in order to revel brighter, fresher skin.

The Nip+Fab Glycolic Cleansing Fix is perfect to use with a sonic cleansing brush because it lathers up with plenty of foam, making it really easy to massage into the skin and spend extra time exfoliating. To top it all off, this it smells absolutely divine. It has a zesty, citrusy smell (like oranges) which is refreshing and energising.

You can buy this from drugstores, such as Boots and Superdrug, or from several online stores, including Amazon.

Olay Hydration + Radiant Glow Moisturiser

Price: £4.89

I’ve been through bottles and bottles of this stuff because I just can’t get enough of it. It’s become my secret to hiding hangover-skin. Thanks to the light-reflecting particles locked into the moisturiser, it’s the perfect way to make dull and tired skin appear radiant, luminous and healthy.

With skin pampering vitamins that infuse your skin with hydration, the Olay Hydration + Radiant Glow Moisturiser locks in moisture throughout the day and also protects you from UV rays with SPF 15.

It’s fast absorbing and my foundation sits beautifully on top of it. The iridescence of the moisturiser gives your skin/makeup a perfectly natural looking dewy and glowing finish.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Price: £16

Finally, a spot treatment that actually works! The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is an on-the-spot (excuse the pun) solution to drying out spots over night. Formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients, it’s a miracle worker at shrinking ugly whiteheads. It uses calamine to reduce the appearance of scars and dark spots, zinc oxide to repair damaged tissue and help to heal and dry out pimples, and salicylic acid to dissolve skin debris, unclog pores and reduce the appearance of red spots.

After applying this with a cotton bud, I noticed a visible difference in my blemishes the next morning. Angry, under-the-skin spots appeared to be reduced in sized and less red and any tiny whiteheads pretty much disappeared. Mario Badescu to the rescue.

This product can be bought in Urban Outfitters stores or online through retailers such as Beauty Bay.

Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray

Price: £7

As you can see, I use my Mario Badescu Rose Water Facial Spray so often that it’s almost completely run out! This really is a go-to product of mine for boosting moisture and adding a radiant glow to my skin. The rejuvenating mist is infused with herbal and botanical extracts; Aloe Vera, Gardenia, Rosewater, Bladderwrack and Thyme.

Rosewater helps maintain the skin’s pH balance, which makes it an excellent toner. It controls excess oil and cleanses pores, and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the redness of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema.

Thanks to the Aloe Vera, it’s also an amazing way to cool and soothe your skin. And if you want an extra refreshing experience, you can store it in the fridge to cool it even more – perfect for a hot summer day.

I love that it’s a multipurpose product. You can use it to revive dehydrated skin anywhere, any time. I use it before applying makeup to hydrate my face, after make up appliance to set my make up and give it a dewy look and also before bed as a facial toner.

This product is available from many retailers, such as Urban Outfitters or Amazon.

Clean & Clear Spot Treatment

Price: £2.69

The Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment is a spot treatment that promises to reduce the size of pimples in four hours. Although I haven’t seen results in as little time as this, I do take a liking to the product based on other factors.

This is a spot treatment that rapidly dissolves on your skin and dries clear, so it’s perfect to use underneath make up. I apply it on my spots before concealer, so I’m actively treating my blemishes throughout the day, not just at night time. And it’s also oil-free, so it won’t block or clog your pores.

It includes witch hazel and salicylic acid, two ingredients well known to visibly reduce the signs of acne. This treatment soothes skin, penetrates pores and clears blemishes.

This product is available from everyday supermarkets, online retailers such as Amazon, or drugstores, such as Boots and Superdrug.

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Eye Cream

Price: £5.99

Tired of the dark circles and bags under your eyes? I’ve found a solution – Superdrug Naturally Radiant Brightening Eye Cream will energise your eyes. Formulated with a naturally revitalising blend of ingredients and infused with Mulberry and Kiwi extracts, it helps to brighten and smooth the eye area.

This isn’t a quick fix though – you have to use the product for at least two weeks to start seeing results. But have patience and give it some time, the Vitamin C and brightening properties from the Mulberry and Kiwi will leave your under-eyes looking lighter, more even in colour and less puffy.

Dermatologically approved and vegan-friendly, you can buy this in any Superdrug store.

You can buy this product from Superdrug only.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Night Pads

Price: £7.29

I’m absolutely in love with this Glycolic Fix range from Nip + Fab. I’ve used pretty much every product from it. It’s perfect for treating enlarged-pores, oily skin, uneven texture of skin and spots – all of the problems I have.

Out of the whole range, these Glycolic Night Pads have to be my favourite item. Each time I use these Glycolic cotton pad wipes, I see immediate results. It’s almost like it peels away the top layer of skin and leaves it looking brand new – it’s so clean, glowing, even and refined. The overnight effects are amazing too – I see a noticeable difference in the size and redness of blemishes and pores the next day.

In the past, I’ve used the Glycolic Exfoliating Toner, which is a slightly more diluted version of the Glycolic Night Pads. But I find this to be much more potent and effective – with my stubborn, troublesome skin, something more ‘Extreme’ like this is definitely needed!

The pot of 60 pads soaked in a high concentration of glycolic acid works to refine pores, brighten complexion and de-congest the skin through a chemical exfoliation. It’s the perfect remedy if my skin is looking particularly congested or oily because it clears up blocked pores and blackheads and treats acne by preventing build-up of dead skin cells and sebum in pores.

This product is available from drugstores, such as Superdrug or Boots, or online retailers such as Amazon.

Pixi Glow Exfoliating Toner

Price: £10

The Glow Tonic by Pixi has become a cult classic thanks to its ability to dissolve the bonds that bind dead cells to your skin’s surface, revealing the healthy radiant skin beneath. I love this exfoliating toner because it’s instantly refreshing, smells gorgeous and gives your skin a lovely glow by toning and conditioning it.

Its another product enriched with glycolic acid to promote cell rejuvenation and vibrancy, with Aloe to soothe and hydrate. Witch hazel and horse chestnuts also firms, tones and boosts blood flow.

It’s astonishingly affordable and mild, yet effective. I just apply a few drops to a cotton wool pad, and sweep all over skin after cleansing (morning and evening) to gradually diminish signs of sun damage, fine lines, scarring and other imperfections.

This product is available at drugstores, such as Boots, or online retailers such as ASOS and Amazon.

Loreal Glow Face Mask

Price: £5.29

I can’t express enough how much this face mask works wonders. It’s slipped its way into the beauty routine of some of the most prolific beauty bloggers and continues to impress me every time I use it.

I named it as an affordable dupe to the Sand & Sky Pink Clay Face Mask in a previous blog post. It’s ability to re-texture and brighten skin, just like the Sand & Sky face mask, are obvious reasons for this.

With a creamy texture, tiny exfoliation beads and a powerful blend of three pure clays, Loreal’s Glow Mask illuminates your skin by exfoliating the skin’s surface without drying it out. The clays combine to absorb impurities, eliminate imperfections and clarify the complexion.

Immediately after using it, I notice that my skin looks smoother and healthier, feels softer and my pores appear tighter.

You can buy this product from everyday supermarkets, drugstores such as Boots and Superdrug, or from online retailers such as Amazon.
